I've shared my story of having my first panic attack after escalations in my anxiety after going through menopause, I call the inter-mingling of the two conditions meno-anxiety. I do want to mention here again that I am not a doctor, I'm a life coach who specializes in helping women in their menopause wellness and anxiety recovery. What I share should be used as a springboard for questions to ask your healthcare team, and I'm also here just to let you know that you're not alone!
So you may ask, why the connection between menopause and anxiety? First let me say that not every woman experiences this, but I feel that many do so it's an important conversation to have. The main connection is the fluctuation of hormones, and as we begin to deal with lowered estrogen and progesterone we may see an increase in anxiety, clumsiness, be easily stressed and deal with some "out of body" feelings.
If you already had a taxed nervous system due to trauma, or just life stress in general, plus dealing with other symptoms of declining hormones, such as sleep issues, then it all just adds to the mix. We'll deep-dive more into tools for dealing with anxiety, but for now just know what you're not going crazy, you're not alone, and you're going to get through this and get yourself back!
"Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all"
2 Thessalonians 3:16
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."
Colossians 3:15
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus"
Philippians 4: 6-7
